    i have owned and do …
    i have owned and do own 2 hyundai vehicals. A sante fe and elantra, i have had both for two years and zero problems as opposed to the Chev;y z71 LT and toyota FJ i bought and got rid of. Problem is…… I just am not buying anymore new cars till i am done with the two i have now. Hyundai is a solid car and that is real world experience i am laying down here.

    Regarding the …
    Regarding the absence of a V6, here’s how I see it:

    1) New 4 cyls are using a totally different technology and are neither noisy nor coarse

    2) Where are you going with a midsize sedan that you need the “instant power of a V6″?? these 4 cylinder engines give you more power & acceleration than your average V6 from the 90s AND better gas mileage. Meanwhile speed limits are still the same and you have more traffic in most cities so…

    This Sonata isnt …
    This Sonata isnt bad… But NO V6 !!!!… I havent driven a 4 banger since high school and college and I dont miss it one bit. 4 cyl are noisy, coarse and no instant torque. Yes the turbo will kick in later but not till you hit 3-4K RPM. The only thing good about 4 cyl is the gas mileage, and thats it. Turbo can not subtitite the smoothness and the intant power or a V6.

    It’s interesting …
    It’s interesting that while Toyota has been cheapening their cars, Ford and Hyundai have been investing money into their vehicles. What are the results? Hyundai and Ford are gaining market share, Toyota is losing, big time.

    They wer frowned on …
    They wer frowned on? butt of jokes? yes, maybe, but they were solid cars. & no they weren’t underpowered (they had the right amount of power). Hyundai’s just plain sucked in the begining. They might be decent now (although I wouldn’t buy one).

    @rayj778 No not …
    @rayj778 No not from the beginning and many people have conveniently forgotten that. Toyota, Honda and Datsun ( now Nissan) were butt of jokes. They were frowned upon and dismissed as underpowered, cheap, joke of auto industry and neighbors snickering that you have one parked in your driveway instead of a Chevy or Pontiac.. They have risen from ridicule to power players. Same as Hyundai except Hyundai has risen faster.

    You said it. …
    You said it. Hyundai is Korean, not Japanese. And Korea means something innovative as has been demonstrated by Hwacha, Turtle Ship, Jikji, Hangul, Cheonsang Yeolcha Bunyajido that Japanese couldn’t have.

    On the contrary, what Japanese are proud of, e.g., Imari ware, Satsuma ware, Kongo Gumi, Chōsen kokatsuji, are Japanese pakuri from Korean originals.

    I don’t know how old you are but obviously not old enough to know toyota and honda were junks, when they firs came to US.

    Yes, Hyundais were terrible, up until about 5 – 6 years ago.

    i sure hope Hyundai’s better than it use to be because we owned two of them & they seriously sucked (2000 elantra, & an excel forgot which year). toyota & honda have been consistently good from the begining!!!!!

    Its amazing how …
    Its amazing how Hyundai just keeps growing stronger as a business of automotive quality: The cheapest cars on the market, some of the safest, most fuel efficient models, and the best warranties around: 10 years/100,000 miles. The sonata always ran with a hefty 22/32 fuel economy a a roomy, comfortable ride, but now this car is every bit as sexy as the Mazda 6, Saturn Aura, Mercedes Ben, etc with newly improved, class leading fuel economy. elegance + quality = Hyundai. Watch out Toyota and Chevy.

    @kotor87 Ok :)
    Although let me say, the most of times even ADAC has doubts about the reliability of BMW. Sometimes it’s ‘name’ the important point but, in any case, yes, the ‘general population’ has a good point of view of BMW. Well, see you soon :)
