Do you think it was a good mover for Force India to go with Mercedes engines for next year 2009?

March 16th, 2010 | by admin |

Force India had dropped Ferrari as an engine supplier for 2009 opting to go with Mercedes, is this a wise decision for such a small & young team?

A move to Mercedes power isn’t a bad idea – you have to remember though that Force India isn’t a young team as you suggest. They have roots that extend back to 1991 when it was known as Jordan Grand Prix before it was sold numerous times and ended up as Force India, and when it was known as Jordan, they had a string of wins during the late 90s.

While on paper, Mercedes power would seem to be a good idea, we have seen teams like Prost with Ferrari power fail to make a big impact. However, McLaren is providing more than just Mercedes power next year, as they will be providing some technical assistance along with other components like gearbox, hydraulics and kinetic energy recovery system (KERS).

I think it mite be. Force India will be the first team to have Mercedes technology in their cars. It could possibally lead to other teams havin a deal with Mclaren.
Force India may improve a little bit say get more consistant results in the top 20 but mayb no podiums for a few years. Though if you remember they almost got a 4th place with Sutil in Monaco until Kimi Raikkonen crashed into the back of him. so i guess there is a chance for them to imporve nxt yr
