What state?
California in LA is 8.25 or 8.50 I for get but it will go up 1%
So if in OC its 7.75 it will be 8.75 and don’t forget you DMV reg lic will double.
I paid $83.00 total for my reg on my 93 cherokee, I think it was $54.00 of it was reg fee the rest was a bunch of b.s. other fees, so that reg fee will be about $108.00 next year. Sucks. Think I move to Texas
Exactly what your tax is depends on what you finaly pay for the car and what state and county you are in References : Old mechanic
that’s going to depend on what state you live in, in each state they have different sales tax,we in Tennessee have the highest rate of anyone right now,but check with your local state tax laws to find out what it is for your state, good luck. References : been a certified mechanic for 38 yrs now.

In California, it would be around 8% give or take a bit.
But it goes up a full 1% Tomorrow.
Can’t speak for other states, you may want to revise the question with what state you are asking about.
