My son needs a car in a couple of weeks. I said wait for 2009 cars, then buy 2008 or 2009. When will that be?

He just got a out-of-state job and wants a new car. When do the 2009 models come out? When do they start discounting the 2008 models? He is leaning towards a Honda Civic but would consider a similar automobile.
My son just spent his down payment on furniture. Will probably buy a new 2008 Civic if they give him credit. If not it will be a used car.

Think about what you are saying. He "just got a job" and "he wants a new car". This is a recipe for disaster. Why not get a good used car rather than get strapped with payments he may not be able to handle for the long term.

The new model will coming out in September, by then, all the 2008 Model will be cheaper. However, if you are going to buy the 2009 it will be MSRP prices not Invoice prices, think about that. Since your son just got a job, it is best to get a used reliable car, such as Honda Civic/Accord or Toyota Corolla/Campry. Remember, this is a recession time, nothing is safe. Good luck.

I guess you should also check insurance quotes for the car before buying one, for example here: http://carquotes.fateback.com
Young drivers usually have much higher rates than others. And it depends from car.
